Cav Part II: Lunch with a Vengeance

It’s been a little over 2 weeks since my last post and quite honestly, it feels weird. I’ve been so occupied with getting my spring internship rolling that I haven’t snapped a pic or eaten at a restaurant in nearly 20 days!! Luckily, CAV Restaurant was there to break me out of my slump.

My most recent post was all about their amazing brunch and this time around we’ll be taking a look at their lunch menu which is full of sandwiches, salads, and freshly prepared pasta dishes.

The TexMex ($9.50) pictured above

CHIPOTLE MAYO IS THE TASTIEST SAUCE EVER!! I DON’T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS!! The TexMex consists of spice crusted grilled chicken strips, Applewood smoked bacon, chipotle mayo and house made tomato salsa. It just tastes so good! I really didn’t care for the side salad and word around the streets is you can substitute the rabbit food for some french fries.  G’head and tell them Chris told ya!

The Porto ($8.50/8.95 w/ Cheddar)

I’ll admit it when I say we really don’t cater to a vegan audience. On the real, I don’t think I ever wrote about a bowl of couscous with strips of grilled tofu. That’s not my style. BUT I’m always up for a change of pace and when I noticed this meatless marvel I had to give it a try.

As the name suggests, this sandwich is layered with slices of grilled Portabella mushrooms. If it’s a Friday and you just got paid, then go the extra mile and ask for the slices of cheddar, you won’t be disappointed. The crusty french baguette is clutch because there’s an awesome contrast of textures in every bite. Asian slaw was ok but really it’s just another excuse to get fries.

I’ve been going to Cav for a few years now but I felt it was time for all of y’all to get a glimpse of what they’re about. Plus one of my best friends and roommate, Juan Deuce, is always tending the bar. He’s the sharp-looking fella’ below on the right…
