Cutting the Ribbon at Red Stripe in East Greenwich

Now officially open to the public, we are excited to announce the Grand Opening of Red Stripe in East Greenwich, their 2nd location in Rhode Island. A true American Brasserie, this warm and inviting restaurant offers a modern take on a French café with an assortment of upscale comfort foods for any occasion, appetite or palate. At Red Stripe, you can expect all of your favorite comfort food with a homey, yet elegant twist.  Whether you choose the recently expanded Wayland Square location in Providence, designed by award winning interior designer Judd Brown, or the new Main Street location in the historic downtown area of East Greenwich, there’s no doubt you are in for a treat.

We recently attended the grand opening of the East Greenwich location which included everything from libations, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and even a ribbon-cutting ceremony. We were able to get a feel for the menu as we sampled a variety of signature small bites. The first, and our personal favorite, was the Pulled Pork and Avocado Relish on a Crostini. A savory and tangy pile of pork topped with creamy avocados with a much-needed crunch from the crostini. A close second was the Grilled Cheese with Caramelized Onions. Yes, something as simple as a grilled cheese can be elevated to the next level of tasty goodness. At first bite, we were welcomed with a buttery crunch, grilled to perfection and gooey interior. The combination of cheeses suited this sandwich well and was complemented by the sweet, caramelized onions. Essentially serving as a palate cleanser, the Shrimp on Cucumber with Dill was refreshing and light, bringing more than enough flavor to stand on its own. This delectable bite was ideal to try between offerings. Lastly, the Butternut Squash Arancini with Sage proved to be another crowd-pleaser. This Italian version of a classic fried rice ball featured velvety risotto on the inside. Plus, anything fried automatically scores points in our book!

The dishes covered here are barely the tip of the iceberg for what Red Stripe has in store. Offering brunch, lunch, dinner or cocktail hour along with a fully stocked bar, Red Stripe is a great option for the adventurous and not so adventurous alike.  We all have those days when we would rather not cook (we can relate!). Next time, check out either of Red Stripe’s locations in Rhode Island and enjoy comfort food without having to whip out your cookbook or clean up. We can’t wait to visit again soon and try the full menu.
